Twitter /  Periscope

Now LIVE: Periscope on Twitter for iOS

Since Periscope launched last year, people have created over 100 million live broadcasts.

“Today, we’re bringing this vision directly into Twitter by making it possible to watch broadcasts without leaving the Twitter app.”

Periscopes will now auto-play right within a Tweet.

  • “When you tap the video, it goes full-screen and shows Periscope comments and hearts from other viewers.
  • You don’t need the Periscope app or even a Periscope account.
  • This means you can reach the massive Twitter audience.
  • And for everyone on Twitter, there’s now a richer experience in your home timeline, search results, and on anyone’s profile who’s shared a Periscope.”

“We’re rolling out this feature on Twitter for iOS over the next few days. To everyone using Twitter for Android or on web: we haven’t forgotten about you!  We plan to roll these features out on all platforms as soon as they’re ready.”

#TwitterFlightSchool is now open to all marketers

“Free online education program, is now available to advertisers around the world in 16 languages.
Students begin by selecting a job-specific ‘flight path.’ Executives can learn how to use Twitter to build their personal brands and inspire thought leadership, while mid-level marketers can brush up on day-to-day.”

Some you can take:

  • Twitter 101
  • How to create and manage objective-based campaigns
  • How to integrate Twitter into a TV campaign
  • How to drive website traffic and conversions

“We’ll recognize their expertise with a printable certificate and an official badge to display in their email signatures or on their LinkedIn profiles.”

The 25 Skills That Can Get You Hired in 2016

LinkedIn analyzed “all of the hiring and recruiting activity that occurred on LinkedIn in 2015, and uncovered the 25 hottest skills in 2015.”

Top 3

1.) Cloud and Distributed Computing

2.) Statistical Analysis and Data Mining

3.) Marketing Campaign Management (up 8 since last year!)

The Top Skills You Need to Succeed at Work — and at Home – from LinkedIn Influencers

In our latest series on LinkedIn, “Mind the Skills Gap,” we asked some of the world’s most successful business leaders to reveal the skills they’re honing in 2016. In addition to mastering hard skills such as public speaking and coding, 50+ Influencers say they are also cultivating softer skills, such as self-awareness, positivity, humility, empathy, and even the ability to find work-life balance.”

Instagram Has a New Feature That Will Help You Find Out Who Your Real Friends Are

This new feature “tells you who you are following, if they are following you back and if not which friends you have in common.”

YouTube creators interview President Obama following his final State of the Union

“On Friday, January 15, Destin Sandlin, Ingrid Nilsen, and Adande Thorne—three popular YouTube creators—will travel to Washington, D.C. to host a live YouTube Interview with President Obama. They’ll join the President in the East Room of the White House, asking a selection of questions that are top of mind for them and their fans.”

Snapchat’s Daily Mobile Video Views Said to Rival Facebook’s

“Snapchat Inc. delivers more than 7 billion video clips each day, people with knowledge of the matter said. That rivals the amount watched on Facebook Inc., which has 15 times as many users.

The startup, which has more than 100 million users for its application for sharing disappearing photos and videos, is gaining on its much larger competitor. Facebook, which has 1.55 billion users, had more than 8 billion daily video views in the third quarter on both desktops and mobile devices.”

Editors Note: I mention YouTube in the audio. That is an error on my part. That should be Facebook views not YouTube views.

Ten years of Skype video: yesterday, today and something new…

“Excited to announce the next evolution – group video calling on Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows 10 Mobile.

We’ll be rolling out this new feature to our hundreds of millions of mobile users in the coming weeks, but if you want to preview before everyone else, hit the link below, provide us with some details and we’ll do the rest. Thank you! “

Mainstreet makes it simple for small business owners to access people who are looking for products and services that they offer.
