Today we are celebrating Friends Day — a moment to reflect on the important friendships in our lives.February 4 is also Facebook’s birthday, but today isn’t about us. It’s about all the moments that make our community special and all the moments we share with the people we love — the good times and the bad, the serious moments and silly ones, the exceptional experiences and the everyday acts of friendship that make our relationships matter.Earlier this week we held an event at Facebook HQ with a small group of people who shared their friendship stories on Facebook. I met Raman and Priya, a couple in Los Angeles who met on Facebook. They ended up getting married and now have a ten week old daughter, Sohana, so of course we traded some parenting tips.I met Michael and Laszlo, childhood friends who now live in Germany and Hungary and use Messenger to collaborate on their band Once A Year.I met moms who became friends on Facebook and started One Refugee Child to help refugee children and families in Greece. And I met people who have used Facebook to tie the knots of friendship across their countries, across borders, cultures and generations, from Oklahoma to the Philippines to Saudi Arabia.Friendship adds meaning to our lives and is a force that moves the world. Private Message Page Replies
“Beginning on Feb 3. 2016, we will be releasing an update to our Pages/Graph API which will allow Page to reply to a comment on a post with a private message. We previously announced this product on our Facebook for Business blog (https://www.facebook.com/business/news/pages-messaging-updates) and we are excited to now offer this capability to all of our partners.
When a Page responds to a comment left on a post with a private message, a direct messaging session will be opened between the Page and the person who commented, and the message will include a link to the comment for reference. Also, the comment shows a note that the Page responded privately, so other Page visitors know that the request was handled.”
Reach and Frequency – 90 Day Campaign Length
“Starting today, you can book reach and frequency campaigns up to 90 days in length on Facebook and Instagram. When running longer campaign lengths, we suggest that you also utilize the frequency cap interval feature. Many advertisers use an interval of 1-2 weeks.”
News Feed FYI: Using Qualitative Feedback to Show Relevant Stories
News Feed is changing, Facebook has been researching News Feed Data and how users engage with stories served to them.
“We saw through our research that people reported having a better News Feed experience when the stories they see at the top are stories they are both likely to rate highly if asked and likely to engage with.
We are making an update to News Feed that combines these two signals. News Feed will begin to look at both the probability that you would want to see the story at the top of your feed and the probability that you will like, comment on, click or share a story. We will rank stories higher in feed which we think people might take action on, and which people might want to see near the top of their News Feed.”
“In general this update should not impact reach or referral traffic meaningfully for the majority of Pages; however, some Pages may see some increases in referral traffic, and some Pages may see some declines in referral traffic.”

Bringing Tweets to more people around the world
New Twitter.com Home Page

Instagram Extends Video Ads To 60 Seconds To Score TV Dollars
Users can only post 15 second videos. Brands could post 30 seconds and now that has been extended to 60 seconds.
Trying to find the sweet spot that is appealing for advertisers to promote on their platform as well as long enough for users viewing without getting annoyed.
“One of the first of these ads is T-Mobile’s extension of its 30-second Super Bowl commercial starring musician Drake. T-Mobile is now running a special, 60-second version with extra scenes on Instagram now. Warner Brothers will run a 60-second Instagram ad for its new film How To Be Single.”
Instagram Rolls Out Multiple Account Switching for Some iOS Users – Latergramme Blog
“If you’re using Instagram on iOS, you might have access to one of the most-requested features for Instagram – and not even know it.
